Is This What You Are Looking For?

Nothing Says It’s Christmas In Rockville Like…

…The traffic light change.

I mean, have you noticed just how slowly the traffic moves during Christmas? On Rockville Pike, I found out that they literally change the traffic pattern so that you get stopped more at the strip-malls and store-fronts. This year they said that they were starting the pattern change earlier than last year!

I mean, it seems we can’t hardly get through Halloween before we are rushing into the Christmas season. The Halloween stuff goes on sale for 75% off on November 1st and there right beside it is the Christmas trees! I feel sorry for Thanksgiving. That poor holiday seems to be almost totally forgotten! Oh, that’s not true. That’s right, it is a long weekend. Which brings me to the traffic coming home to Rockville after being in North Carolina or flying back after being in Georgia. UNREAL!

And here I am back at the traffic discussion again. So, why the bitter diatribe? It’s actually NOT a tirde, but an encouragement. I am actually on the other side of the computer screen chuckling to myself, encouraging you to step away from the computer, walk out of the mall, slow down the hurry and take moments to make memories.

I mean, if you live 90 years, you ONLY get 90 Christmases. And let’s be honest, you probably don’t remember the first 5. Don’t let this one pass you by.

MAKE MEMORIES
SLOW DOWN
LAUGH A LOT
HUG FAMILY & FRIENDS
Remember old acquaintenances
Tell stories
Sit by a fire or the fan, depending on which hemisphere in which you live.
Put up decorations
Make Traditions
Love
Live

And don’t be consumed by the pace, the glitter, the glamour and the over-spending of the season.

They call us consumers, but often it seems that we are the ones being consumed by a society frought with empty bellies, yet so much to eat. There is more to this season. It’s about Family, it’s about giving (and not giving until you are in debt for the rest of the year) and mainly about Jesus.

There was a child born in Bethlehem. He was and is called Wonderful, Counselor, Prince of Peace. Do Not Fear, this is not for your harm. He will save all people from their sins and will cleanse from iniquity. HARK!

So, as you are caught in front of the stores and strip malls by the rediculous traffic patterns in your life, take a moment to break a pattern. Step out of the normal rush of the season and stop to spend time knowing HIM and getting to know others! Talk to HIM, Make Memories, enjoy the season.

And family, we look forward to seeing you here at the Tapestry on the 17th, but not the 24th. Because we want you to slow down and break the pattern of rush.

Have a wonderful Christmas!

Blessings!

Kickin It!pd
