In an attempt to raise the price of crude oil that has rapidly fallen as a result of the global economic downturn, OPEC, the oil cartel, has decided to reduce their output by 2.2 million barrels per day in order to try to increase the oil price again.

This is no surprise since we have seen a literal gutting of the industry since July.
However, the thing that DOES surprise me is an actual comment made in the article by Chakib Khelil. This one quote sends a chill up my spine.
“If you are not surprised [by the cuts], then we have to do something about it.” -Khelil
I know what he’s getting at since he of course wants to shock the system and get it going up again. And of course since they would love to keep oil above $70 a barrel so that they can keep buying the over-sized jets they don’t use and the brand new air conditioned beach in Dubai, however, what bothers me more than the fact that these guys are absolutely MONEY HUNGRY and cut-throat about it, is the sheer arrogance of anyone to think that they are that important!
Seriously, does that sound like a person who even cares about the average joe? And forget Joe, let’s talk about anyone who has nothing. If I am not mistaken, this is the kind of person that NEVER gives a penny to any country that is in need.
So, why should we give him ours?
Come on President Elect Obama and co. PLEASE cut loose the ties that bind us to the oil gods and allow us to create opportunities with actual energy sources that do not have adverse effects on the environment and plunder nations only to hold that wealth, never sharing with places like Ethiopia and Somalia that are in the worst famine since the 80’s.
