Obama Saving GM Needed Dealmaker Team to Break It (Correct) – Bloomberg.com
“‘Half an hour to decide the fate of the auto industry?’” one person recalled the president saying. “‘We need more time than this. We’re going to have to get together later today.’”
Obama wanted dissenters in the discussion. They reconvened at 6 p.m., sitting in brown leather chairs in the Roosevelt Room.
‘Pivotal’ Meetings
The two meetings that day were “pivotal,” Axelrod said. “He thought the first meeting was inadequate, and he had a series of questions he wanted answered. He wanted to have a richer discussion about it.”

This quote from this article totally attracted my attention. I am so in awe of the way the President handled himself here. It is so interesting to see him very simply make space and time for very important decisions.
I also am interested in the style and mannerisms here. He makes space and time to meet, he takes it to a room where it is met with clear and decisive conversation from both sides and it is done from leather sitting chairs.
The way this is portrayed draws my admiration. I want to be the kind of leader that can:
1 – slow down and make space.
2 – come back to a conversation before making a hasty decision.
3 – Allow for dissent and exploration.
4 – Approach from a level head and playing field.
5 – Relax. As a leader, I have got to make more space and when the pressure gets higher, I need to sit back and create more time to spread out and relax.
Let’s come back to this later and think about it…
