Is This What You Are Looking For?

Entry for March 30, 2006

With the advent of a simple, “Ker-choo,” the season
we all well know is upon us. The saeson of watery
eyes and runny noses. This season has been
remembered for allergies, but I say, we
revolutionize the way we look at this season and see
it not as allergy season, but, Blessing Season! Have
you ever thought about it. This is the ONE time you
can bless anyone and get away with it. You can bless
your boss, your co-worker, your family, your teacher
(in school!) and whomever you even meet on the street!

And the great news is that they will most likely say
thank you! So, why don’t we start purposefully
blessing people as a prayer every time they sneeze!
When someone sneezes, say, “God bless you!” or even
“Bless you!” and MEAN IT! Really mean it, really
pray it, really watch and see if God does something
with that prayer. We could effectively pray for
everyone!

So, now I’m praying for a high pollen count! […]

So, now I’m praying for a high pollen count! I
started it today. That single, solitary ker-choo!

And P.S., let’s not stop there, let’s bless
everyone, including the guy who cuts you off in
traffic. This would be the perfect way to change our
day. Let’s be blessings and not curses. I think it’s
a plan!

Blessings!

I Thought this would be appropriate with the passing of St. Patrick’s Day. Which, by the way, is one of my favorite holidays. Saint Patrick is by far my favorite Saint!
This prayer is often called “St. Patrick’s Breastplate” because of those parts of it which seek God’s protection.  It is also sometimes called “The Deer’s Cry”.
I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through the belief in the threeness,
Through confession of the oneness
Of the Creator of Creation.
I arise today
Through the strength of Christ’s birth with his baptism,
Through the strength of his crucifixion with his burial,
Through the strength of his […]

Hey Everyone, I had to send this out because I am from Statesville, North Carolina. I would not be a pastor in Washington, DC if it were not for Thor Colberg. As Lori and I were preparing to plant, we felt led to plant a church in Huntersville. As we got closer to the date for the plant, we fell more and more in love with the city and region that we were presently serving in, (Rockville, MD and WAshington, DC). So, we began to pray that if God wanted us to stay here, then He would send someone else to plant in Huntersville. Thor and Bonnie were God’s answer. We had told no one, but the day that my mentor, (Johnny Crist), called, I knew it was God. We immediately asked him if he would support us to stay in this area and he did. So, now Thor sent […]
