Is This What You Are Looking For?

Hurricane Planning & More for this Weekend

Hey Everyone,

Just so you know, you may get this email twice, but that really does not matter to me at this point. I am sending this email as kind of a barrage in order to make sure that everyone is notified and connected and so that no one is left out.

As everyone around here is well aware, there is a hurricane coming through our area this weekend and that leaves all weekend activities a bit up in the air. So, here is what I want to share:

1 – We will be abiding by Montgomery County’s School closing procedures. So, if you listen to WTOP and hear that Montgomery County Weekend activities are canceled, this means that our services are canceled.

2 – Even if services are not canceled, please do not do anything that puts your life in danger. If you have trees down, etc and cannot leave your community, do nothing that puts your life at risk. We will see you after things clear up.

3 – A few people have opened up their homes in case things get bad. If you are in need and you lose power and you are not able to wait out any issue and you need to get somewhere safe, please call Lori or I at: 301-529-8164. We do not have much and we only have a small space in our house, but we are opening it up for anyone that needs to evacuate their area as long as our house is suitable shape for people to come.

(If you keep power and you want to open your space up as well, please email Lori at: lorihedrick@tapestrychurch.org so she can keep up with all the places and areas where we have people who will allow people to come to for refuge).

4 – If Sunday there are no issues and the radio reports that our services are canceled, then we will likely get together for a meal or something, so you can keep up with us via text and phone should you want to connect or stay home if we have no facility open and rest. The Sabbath is made for rest… 😉

5 – Guys, let’s really pray for mercy in all of this. We have had an earthquake and a hurricane in one week. I am careful not to say things that I will regret later because it really is easy to get caught up in finger pointing and religious nonsense talk, but I truly cannot help but feeling that something is up with all of this. It’s like we are stepping out of grace with GOD as a nation. So, can we pray for us to turn our hearts back to GOD as a people. That no matter what happens with this or anything else that we face that, “We The People,” will rise up and begin to pray and ask GOD to forgive us of our long lists of sins, our hurt, hate and forgiveness, to turn our hearts back to the children and our kids to turn their hearts back to their fathers and seek GOD again?

Can we pray? Let us pray. And no matter what happens, let us always be ready to give a reason for this hope we have.

And let us be salt and light. This is our HOUR! BE AVAILABLE TO EACH OTHER AND TO OUR COMMUNITY! Let’s BE THE CHURCH!

Do NOT see the problem, ONLY SEE THE OPPORTUNITIES!

Love you all! Grrrr!

Blessings!

pd

The Father Wants to Give Bread… | Oswald Chambers

What man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? -Matthew 7:9

The illustration of prayer that our Lord used here is one of a good child who is asking for something good. We talk about prayer as if God hears us regardless of what our relationship is to Him (see Matthew 5:45). Never say that it is not God's will to give you what you ask. Don't faint and give up, but find out the reason you have not received; increase the intensity of your search and examine the evidence. Is your relationship right with your spouse, your children, and your fellow students? Are you a "good child" in those relationships? Do you have to say to the Lord, "I have been irritable and cross, but I still want spiritual blessings"? You cannot receive and will have to do without them until you have the attitude of a "good child."

We mistake defiance for devotion, arguing with God instead of surrendering. We refuse to look at the evidence that clearly indicates where we are wrong. Have I been asking God to give me money for something I want, while refusing to pay someone what I owe him? Have I been asking God for liberty while I am withholding it from someone who belongs to me? Have I refused to forgive someone, and have I been unkind to that person? Have I been living as God's child among my relatives and friends? (see Matthew 7:12).

I am a child of God only by being born again, and as His child I am good only as I "walk in the light" (1 John 1:7). For most of us, prayer simply becomes some trivial religious expression, a matter of mystical and emotional fellowship with God. We are all good at producing spiritual fog that blinds our sight. But if we will search out and examine the evidence, we will see very clearly what is wrong- a friendship, an unpaid debt, or an improper attitude. There is no use praying unless we are living as children of God. Then Jesus says, regarding His children, "Everyone who asks receives . . ." (Matthew 7:8).

what’s shaking? | Ross Moore

In light of today’s events, I wanted to share a verse with you guys that has new meaning for me.

Matthew 27: (when Jesus died)

50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.

51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split 52 and the tombs broke open.

Which of course was followed up by:

54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”

Wake up friends, God is no longer on that cross and his Power, which resides in you and me through his spirit, is more than capable!

God bless

A Note from the Pastor | Where Do We Go From Here?

Hey Tapestry Family,
This past week was pretty amazing. If you attended the ACTIVAT3! Conference, you probably heard a little bit about what took place. Nobody knows all that happened, because so much was happening to and with so many at the same time that it was too hard to hear all of the stories. From the Korean 1st Generation intercessory team that came to the amazing way almost everyone seemingly received ministry and prayer on Friday and Saturday. From the amazing worship where people were clapping and singing louder than the team to the way outreach was literally blasted through 5 different areas where our teams went to pray for people. And it was like 75% of people that were asked if people could pray with them received some kind of prayer! AMAZING! Robby was awesome and the impartation of the Spirit was AWESOME! All true praise and glory goes to Jesus. THANK YOU LORD!
And not only that, what about the stories, the 12 head pastors and many more youth pastors and associates that attended, the way everyone joined together and bonded, the fellowship and even the outpouring last Sunday in our service. I have not been the same. And before you blame it all on Robby. I got touched when Seraphina prayed for me!!!!!! Everyone carried the Presence. Everyone that prayed for another was able to release the Kingdom. It was not just Robby and not only that, have you heard the stories from this week??????
Monday people hit Dupont Circle for ministry time.
Tuesday I and the family went through the White House for a tour I’ve tried to get for years and they invited us this week and I used it for a PRAYER WALK!!!!! I walked in and GOD hit me and I prayed, "Come Holy Spirit" and that tour became a ministry event!
Tuesday others from the band played at an Indonesian gathering for churches and GOD fell.
Wednesday some folks ministered in a hospital and more and SO MUCH MORE!!!!
I am AMAZED as even every day when we are just going through normal life now, SOMETHING IS HAPPENING!
And Sunday, you are about to hear MUCH MORE about the testimonies and stories of what GOD has done. As a matter of fact, there is so much that is happening in the Vineyard. I have been sharing these stories with everyone through a couple of letters I wrote and now many pastors all over the United States are finding hope in your stories that GOD is still moving and that they have HOPE THAT they can see HIM move again too.
YOU ARE AFFECTING SO MANY CHURCH!!!!! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!
And seriously, I could literally meet every single day with you all and it would not be enough for me. Now I understand the ACTS passage that says they meant daily and broke bread. I thought it was a religious thing and instead, I have now found it is a LOVE THING! I love Jesus and you guys so much that all I want to do is get together and do this life we call faith and church. I want to go out, I want to bless, I want to eat together and LIVE!!!!!
You are a blessing to me and I love you dearly church. WOW! THAT IS REVIVAL!!!!!! AND MORE!!!!!! AND THERE IS MORE TO COME! MORE LORD!!!!!!
As yet as I write this, I am preparing for a trip to NC. It was a bit unexpected, however, my grandmother passed away today around midday. Granny Hedrick had been in the hospital for a few days after a fall and today the LORD took her home. It’s a homecoming she is facing now and that’s what is most important.
And you know, that leads me to this great hope I have. I have a hope that no matter what happens and no matter what obstacles I am presented with, there is HOPE!!!!! HOPE IN JESUS! Hope in a life with you all.
Hope of a future. Hope of MORE!
Guys, if you have lost hope lately, don’t give up on hope. Come get IN LIFE! COME BE TOGETHER! I may not be there with you this weekend, but JESUS WILL BE! So, come together, worship together, bring heaven down, invite the Spirit and pray for each other.
I cannot wait to come home to HEAVEN… Both now and later…
Let’s seek heaven together… Your Kingdom come, Your will be done… on earth….
Amen.
Church, I love you. Be blessed.
I will see you when I get back home to MD and I will miss you until I do. Pray for us as I pray for you daily. I am so proud of you. KEEP YOUR FAITH UP! KNOW THAT WE ARE seeing revival right in front of us and no matter what happens, IT IS ALL WORTH IT!
Be Blessed!

A Word from Jason (Our Worship Ministry Director) | The Robby Dawkins August Event Feedback

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to thank all of you… all the people who were on the stage, all who prayed for us & the conference, all who helped out with set-up and tear-down from the beginning until the end, and all else who did any small part that no one noticed. You know who you are and I won’t mention any names but don’t forget God saw your help and you’ll be rewarded in heaven.

I think we did a great job providing praise / worship and more than anything I am so thankful that we all did this for God and all the glory be to Him only. I was very blessed because of you all. Without you, I wouldn’t have been blessed like that.

Let us not stop here. The war still goes on. Please pray for each other to be strengthened in Christ. I already see some spiritual battles affecting our church members. I remember this quote from a movie called Sucker Punch I watched today… "You have all the weapons you need. Now fight."

Thank you again.

Sincerely,

JK

Do Not Quench the Spirit | Oswald Chambers

Do not quench the Spirit -1 Thessalonians 5:19

The voice of the Spirit of God is as gentle as a summer breeze- so gentle that unless you are living in complete fellowship and oneness with God, you will never hear it. The sense of warning and restraint that the Spirit gives comes to us in the most amazingly gentle ways. And if you are not sensitive enough to detect His voice, you will quench it, and your spiritual life will be impaired. This sense of restraint will always come as a "still small voice" (1 Kings 19:12), so faint that no one except a saint of God will notice it.

Beware if in sharing your personal testimony you continually have to look back, saying, "Once, a number of years ago, I was saved." If you have put your "hand to the plow" and are walking in the light, there is no "looking back"- the past is instilled into the present wonder of fellowship and oneness with God (Luke 9:62 ; also see 1 John 1:6-7). If you get out of the light, you become a sentimental Christian, and live only on your memories, and your testimony will have a hard metallic ring to it. Beware of trying to cover up your present refusal to "walk in the light" by recalling your past experiences when you did "walk in the light" (1 John 1:7). When-ever the Spirit gives you that sense of restraint, call a halt and make things right, or else you will go on quenching and grieving Him without even knowing it.

Suppose God brings you to a crisis and you almost endure it, but not completely. He will engineer the crisis again, but this time some of the intensity will be lost. You will have less discernment and more humiliation at having disobeyed. If you continue to grieve His Spirit, there will come a time when that crisis cannot be repeated, because you have totally quenched Him. But if you will go on through the crisis, your life will become a hymn of praise to God. Never become attached to anything that continues to hurt God. For you to be free of it, God must be allowed to hurt whatever it may be.

Every country is their home, every home is a foreign country…

This Experience Must Come | Oswald Chambers

Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha . . . saw him no more -2 Kings 2:11-12

It is not wrong for you to depend on your "Elijah" for as long as God gives him to you. But remember that the time will come when he must leave and will no longer be your guide and your leader, because God does not intend for him to stay. Even the thought of that causes you to say, "I cannot continue without my 'Elijah.' " Yet God says you must continue.

Alone at Your "Jordan" (Kings 2:14). The Jordan River represents the type of separation where you have no fellowship with anyone else, and where no one else can take your responsibility from you. You now have to put to the test what you learned when you were with your "Elijah." You have been to the Jordan over and over again with Elijah, but now you are facing it alone. There is no use in saying that you cannot go- the experience is here, and you must go. If you truly want to know whether or not God is the God your faith believes Him to be, then go through your "Jordan" alone.

Alone at Your "Jericho" (2 Kings 2:15). Jericho represents the place where you have seen your "Elijah" do great things. Yet when you come alone to your "Jericho," you have a strong reluctance to take the initiative and trust in God, wanting, instead, for someone else to take it for you. But if you remain true to what you learned while with your "Elijah," you will receive a sign, as Elisha did, that God is with you.

Alone at Your "Bethel" (2 Kings 2:23). At your "Bethel" you will find yourself at your wits' end but at the beginning of God's wisdom. When you come to your wits' end and feel inclined to panic- don't! Stand true to God and He will bring out His truth in a way that will make your life an expression of worship. Put into practice what you learned while with your "Elijah"- use his mantle and pray (see 2 Kings 2:13-14). Make a determination to trust in God, and do not even look for Elijah anymore.
