We simply buy food and feed day workers in front of the 7-11 and the Home Depot there and pray for their needs and talk with them. Come join us!

The Compelling Purpose of GOD | Oswald Chambers

He . . . said to them, 'Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem . . -Luke 18:31

Jerusalem, in the life of our Lord, represents the place where He reached the culmination of His Father's will. Jesus said, "I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me" (John 5:30). Seeking to do "the will of the Father" was the one dominating concern throughout our Lord's life. And whatever He encountered along the way, whether joy or sorrow, success or failure, He was never deterred from that purpose. ". . . He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem . . ." (Luke 9:51).

The greatest thing for us to remember is that we go up to Jerusalem to fulfill God's purpose, not our own. In the natural life our ambitions are our own, but in the Christian life we have no goals of our own. We talk so much today about our decisions for Christ, our determination to be Christians, and our decisions for this and that, but in the New Testament the only aspect that is brought out is the compelling purpose of God. "You did not choose Me, but I chose you . . ." (John 15:16).

We are not taken into a conscious agreement with God's purpose- we are taken into God's purpose with no awareness of it at all. We have no idea what God's goal may be; as we continue, His purpose becomes even more and more vague. God's aim appears to have missed the mark, because we are too nearsighted to see the target at which He is aiming. At the beginning of the Christian life, we have our own ideas as to what God's purpose is. We say, "God means for me to go over there," and, "God has called me to do this special work." We do what we think is right, and yet the compelling purpose of God remains upon us. The work we do is of no account when compared with the compelling purpose of God. It is simply the scaffolding surrounding His work and His plan. "He took the twelve aside . . ." (Luke 18:31). God takes us aside all the time. We have not yet understood all there is to know of the compelling purpose of God.

Message From Mission Team in Colombia!

Hey Guys,


Here is the encouraging message I just got from Pastor Jose in Colombia! Let this encourage and inspire you and let’s keep praying for he and Lina this week!!!!

Jose’s Message:

at missionary time.  Martin gets up at  4:30 am for devotions,
and to answer his email and make lesson plans.  School starts at 630 am.

 

On Saturday, we went to the slum church at La Reliquia.  The kids there sang the Bible songs that Martin teaches them with such vigor that puts all of us adults to shame.  Only AB could match their enthusiasm.  About 80 kids from this slum show up every Saturday at 5pm.  They get crackers and juice, and also, church people send a bag of clothes to pass out.  There is a neighbor that does not want the church to build a secure structure, but Martin’s group (2 elders and wives) is doing so much that I know he will be won over eventually.  Reminds me of Sanballat and Tobiah in Nehemiah’s day.  I taught a group of adults a lesson while Martin taught a kids lesson with music and coloring Bible characters.

 

I preached on Sunday  to a very healthy mother church that meets in Peniel school grounds of 150 adults plus a large number of youth.  They have 5 elders including Martin, and they have praise teams that rotate with preachers to support the churches that have been planted.  Martin’s home base is the school teaching role, but on weekends, he is an evangelist/worship leader wherever he needs to go. 

 

By the way, Dustin, google Marcos Witt and his music.  It is well written and used all over Latin America.  You will learn Spanish very quickly with it.

 

I appreciate your continued prayers.  There is a family with a mother who has Lupus; I prayed for her healing so please pray as well.  Our visit with cousin Walbert went very well and yielded GREAT contacts for Lina and I.  I found a basketball coach in Cartagena and Lina met a lady that works with an NGO from Norway.  We have lots of people to contact for Lina so that she can find human rights work in Colombia through an internship; especially in Cartagena.

 

Well, we are off to school to meet some wonderful kids that we saw in church.  Lina should be sending pictures soon.

Born to missionary parents in Japan, Robby had an early start in ministry. In his father’s church he began a children’s ministry at the age of 12, and became the youth minister at 16 years old. Robby says, “I knew from a young age that God had called me into ministry. My parents say that from the age of 2, I told people that I would grow up and be a missionary.” In many ways that has been the case in Robby’s life.
Robby and his wife, Angie, married in 1992, have pastored the Vineyard Church of Aurora, IL since 1996. They feel God called them to plant in a poor urban community, and continually use “power evangelism” to gather for the church. They estimate that over 50% of current attenders have come to Christ at the Vineyard Aurora, and that almost ¾ of those have come through “power” encounters.
“In addition to starting and pastoring this church, God has called me for the purpose of building up and equipping the local church with power tools for harvesting,” Robby shares. These “power tools” are prophetic ministry, healing, ministry of the presence of God, and deliverance from demonic power. Robby loves to tell literally hundreds of stories of his personal experiences, which include God using him and others he has mentored through the years to see God’s Kingdom “break in” with signs and wonders.
Having been in over 30 countries around the world, God has used him to help build the church internationally as well. He has ministered in many Muslim countries and in 2 of the top 10 most dangerous countries according to Voice of the Martyrs magazine

E-Tickets Are on Sale (AND THEY ARE FREE!)

Hey Everybody,

 

We hope that you are getting pumped about the upcoming conference! We have put the e-tickets live on eventsbot and they are going like CRAZY! We literally have only be truly public with the tickets for one afternoon and night and we are already at ¼ capacity. So, what does that mean? It means that if you know about this event already because we tipped you off, DO NOT WAIT! Get online and get your tickets reserved RIGHT NOW and be sure to print off your e-ticket confirmation in case you need it.

We have only just setup the Facebook Page and Event and we have only just gotten the blog going. The Twitter is live and in the next 48 hours, we will begin to market to all local channels and churches. When this happens, this may go quickly.
