This is a look at some of our summer learning workbooks and activities + ways to avoid screen time throughout the summer. I know that everyone’s summer looks different and this year during the pandemic ours is different than usual!
We have been spending a lot more time at home so that means getting more creative and keeping the kiddos busy so they have fun and don’t keep on asking to watch tv or be on a device! I started seeing negative behavioral issues after my children watched tv in the mornings and I have significantly reduced screen time since then.
In this video I am sharing about some homeschool workbooks and activities we are doing to stay busy and learn from home this summer in a laid back way!
***I’d love to hear some of your favorite at home summer learning and playing activities!***
The homeschooling workbooks I do the flip thru of in this video that we are using this summer are from the Explode the Code and Get Ready For The Code Series. They are phonics workbooks that are “essential lessons for phonics mastery” that I am really liking. Here is the links:

The activities I mentioned in the video we do are:
– Free play outdoors – we have a great pond near our house we love to go explore at too!
– Reading a lot! We love the library and Usborne Books a lot!
– Gardening – This year we have two gardens in our yard and I have really tried to get the kiddos involved.
– Here is a garden tour to our two vegetable gardens here in central Texas: https://youtu.be/1cnrWGQVzec
– Fort building! The kids love building forts out of blankets and pillows around the house.
– Homemade Playdoh and modeling clay. My 1 year old is especially in love with playdoh right now.

– Water play! I like to fill buckets or containers with water and let the kids splash around or make mud, they love it!
