Tweets From God – Don’t worry so much about tomorrow… I did not fall off my throne today… -GOD

By Ashley Shepherd

I’m sharing the below passage of scripture as the other day a good friend of mine was kind enough to reminded me, “focus on the Kingdom.” She went on to say, “in the grand scheme of things, all the distractions and worries of this life that pull away our focus will be of no importance in the Kingdom.” I thought you too might need this reminder. Lets think upwards today. He’s got our backs folks!

Do Not Worry Matthew 6:25-34

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Blessings!

By Ashley Shepherd

The circumstances of today do not determine your tomorrow, though the future seems bleak, know His promise is an expectant end (Jeremiah 29:11). In the natural all does not make sense, but know, He is working all things together for good (Romans 8:28).

Though instinct would necessitate action, His ways are not our own (Isaiah 55:8). Resist the desire to take control.

In quietness and trust is your strength (Isaiah 30:15). Don’t be like those who would not have it and in their own selfish pursuits turn to ruin. I like what Matthew Henry’s Commentary said as it relates to Isaiah 30:15, “If men will not repent, turn to God, and seek happiness in his favor and service, their desires will but hasten their ruin. Those who make God alone their confidence, will have comfort. God ever waits to be gracious to all that come to him by faith in Christ, and happy are those who wait for him.”

Don’t be discouraged, wait for His timing, your ever after is coming.

Blessings!

Isaiah 40:28-31

28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; 31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

You know when you read a passage and God highlight’s certain words in your spirit, this was the case for me today. As I began to focus on the words He was drawing me to and look them up He shed new light on what I was reading. I hope this new insight encourages you as well.

The first thing He highlighted was vs 28b, He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.

Power as defined by Strong’s Concordance is:

To be firm. Figuratively speaking it means capacity or produce. Additionally, in biblical usage it references strength of angels.

It elaborates on strength as being an extension of power in abundance.

Therefore, with this new found understanding I now know what He gives goes well beyond just power. He makes me firm and established by giving me a solid foundation when I grow weak. Not only that, when I don’t feel I can bare any more He gives me capacity to produce power through the revelation that it isn’t something I can create rather it’s an extension of Him, a grace gift, one of which He gives in abundance. Lastly, I loved the Strong’s referenced to angels, because as I read it I was reminded of how He gives charge of His angels to protect me and keep me. He hedges me about. I am surrounded just as you are, how amazing and glorious.

Secondly, He pointed out vs 31, specifically the word wait and renew.

I want to focus specifically on the word “wait” for a moment because there is breakthrough to those who truly grasp and cling to what I am about to say.

Strong’s defines wait as:

Look for (eagerly), hope, expect, linger for, to bind together.

The important definition here is, to bind together. What does this mean?

I was reminded of the passage which says, “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19) Often times when we hear this portion of scripture referenced it’s in terms of spiritual warfare and binding the enemy, HOWEVER part of conquering/defeating the enemy isn’t merely disarming Him. Simply recognizing who’s we are and what we have access to limits the enemy’s hold on our lives. We need to bind and loose God’s spiritual blessings.

Let’s take a look at what binding and loosing mean beyond our normal perception of the words.

As I poured over the definitions in Strong’s and Merriam Webster’s, the word bind took on a whole new meaning to me beyond to simply restrain. It also means:

To put under obligation as with an oath, to make secure/firm as in a commitment, to take hold, to protect or strengthen, to compel with a promise that binds, to set to work as an apprentice; indenture as in refer to a document that has been indented (matched for authentication).

Loose in essence means release.

So as you “wait” for the Lord you are not inactive rather you are waiting in eager expectation and coming into agreement with the things He has already sworn to you as with an oath and holding Him to those words as likened to a contract that is legally binding. This my friends is releasing your faith so that the promise can be loosed rather released. The Lord loves it when we remind Him and hold Him to His word.

Not only that, this type of binding or joining together reminded me of another way we release His promises for His word says, “Truly, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:19-20)

This passage is dealing with sin in the church, but more than that it is dealing with reconciliation, bringing unity where there was disharmony. There is just something about agreeing with God, agreeing with His word, and coming into agreement with one another that the Lord just can’t resist. There is such power in this.

I know I’ve kinda jumped all over the place, but that is what I love about scripture. As we truly seek to understand His word He releases so much more knowledge than we can often comprehend. It’s like a lightbulb switches on and circuits of electricity fire all over the place giving meaning to multiple areas that you normally wouldn’t think the passage touches on. That’s why it’s so important not to get locked in to our routine understanding of scripture, but really study it.

Ok, this post has been long, but lets get to the last word, renew, because what better place to end a post than the word renew; it’s refreshing!

The Strong’s defines it as:

To pass on quickly, pass through, grow up, change for the better, to come on anew, sprout again (of grass).

All of these definitions speaks to a death to something and a birth to something new. Aren’t you excited God isn’t going to leave you where you are, but His pro ise is for something so much better. Don’t get distracted by them temporal things, the uncomfortable things. Remember, “We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame (disappoint), because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” (Romans 5:3-5)

Know He is strengthening you today. He has great plans for you, to prosper you and give you a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Don’t grow weary in well doing, you’re about to reap a harvest (Galatians 6:9). Know, He will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? He will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert (Isaiah 43:19).

Blessings!

By Ashley Shepherd

“The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity (double mindedness).” (Proverbs 11:3)

Integrity implies trustworthiness and incorruptibility to a degree that one is incapable of being false to a trust, responsibility, or pledge. (Merriam-Webster Dictionary) But all to often I find it common place that lies and half truths abound.

Proverbs 12:22 says, “The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy (honest).”

Why is lying so detestable to God, well scripture states satan himself is the father of lies and half truths. Furthermore, he is an angel of light meaning he gives way to deception. (John 8:44b and II Corinthians 11:14 AMP)

Lying at its core is in direct opposition to everything that God is. The word states in Him is light and He is abounding in truth. Furthermore, it states that it is impossible for Him to lie. (Hebrews 6:8)

Proverbs 18:21 states, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Though you may not be speaking death if your words are not life giving they are ultimately to your demise.

James 1:26 says, “Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.” It goes on to say in chapter 3, our words drive the very course of our lives and discusses the importance of taming the tongue and how both blessing and cursing cannot come from the same spring.

The Lord has been really challenging me with all of this as it relates to effectiveness in the kingdom. If we’re to be His mouth piece than we must endeavor to have pure hearts and clean lips before Him.

Pray with me, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.” (Psalms 19:14)

Tweets From God – ……softheartedness, humility and love look so great on you… -GOD

By Ashley Shepherd

Colossians 3:12-14, ESV Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

Do we always get this right, no, which is why I love just a few verses back in verse 10 is says, all of this is a result of the new [spiritual self], which is [ever in the process of being] renewed and remolded into [fuller and more perfect knowledge upon] knowledge after the image (the likeness) of Him Who created it (Amplified Version).

How comforting to know the potters hands are continually reshaping us into His image and likeness and refining those rough places in our lives. Don’t resist the remolding of the Spirit and never forget this journey is a process.

Tweets From God – Some of my favorite music is sung and played by those guys at the metro station, subway, tube, sidewalk and bus stop. -GOD

By Ashley Shepherd

When I read this tweet by Dustin, I couldn’t help but think, if I were God why might this be true to me? As I pondered this question I realized, music of this sort is music in it’s purest form and for the most part the songs sang tell a story, a story more often than not filled with laughter, pain, or love. It is a beautiful depiction of honesty and transparency often revealing parts of a person which could never be seen, felt, or touched otherwise.

This reminds me of the psalmist David which was know for such transparency. He wasn’t afraid of raw emotion and vulnerability. This I think is what the Lord longs for even in the midst of the messiness of life. Will you dare to pour out your hearts song before Him today?

Psalms 62:8 Confide in him at all times, ye people; pour out your heart before him: God is our refuge. Selah.

Tweets From God – That “Aha” you just had… It was me… -GOD

By Ashley Shepherd

Have you ever been in a season of unrest, a subdued unsettledness in the midst of the unknown, a time of being pressed at every side with no clear direction from the Lord as all seems silent? In these seasons it’s as if the heart becomes numb lacking all feeling and a weight is laid heavily upon ones chest. The mind wanders in angst and bubbling from within the only thing that surfaces is anger. Not an anger in the truest sense of the word, rather an upset.

More recently, I was able to clearly define all of the above in my own life as frustration. Lately in the midst of my upset when asked what’s wrong, I’ve been saying, I don’t know, I’m just “frustrated.” It wasn’t until tonight that I realized my voicing this was discernment of a more deep-seated issue. I say this to say, pay attention to what your words give voice to.

I’ve been calling my feeling by name, but with out a clear understanding of the word I have been blinded. Proverbs 4:7 admonishes us to “Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” When you have knowledge and when you have understanding, your spiritual eyes become open. Without them, the word says we perish (Hosea 4:5).

The definition of frustration is as follows:

: to cause (someone) to feel angry, discouraged, or upset because of not being able to do something

: to prevent (efforts, plans, etc.) from succeeding : to keep (someone) from doing something

1 a : to balk or defeat in an endeavor b : to induce feelings of discouragement in
2 a (1) : to make ineffectual : bring to nothing (2) : impede, obstruct

A word synonymous with this word is, thwart or block.

That one word “block” surmised exactly what the enemy has been doing in my life, blocking me. This was the exact word used within a word of knowledge given to me as an assault against my purposes in life. In my life their has been a continual pattern of “blocking” and now not only do I know the attack, but I know the battle plan and the enemies weapon of choice – discouragement.

I share this with you as the enemy is not that clever or diverse in his tactics. If you to find yourself in a similar situation or some other pattern in your life has been highlighted by God, take note of it, pay attention and see the victory of the Lord. Your “aha” moment is just around the corner. Don’t merely give way to your feelings or be ruled by them rather invite Holy Spirit to intervene. He gives light to our words, we need only to pay attention.

That being said, discernment isn’t nearly enough, seek God out for your counter attack. As you do, He will highlight the specifics for your given situation. Be intentional in your response to His leading and allow Him to navigate the way.

As you go about your week lets purpose to cover one another in prayer, feel free to make specific requests in the comments section or post the strategies God has given you throughout the week.

Blessings!

Tweets From God – I cannot help but bring the best out in you… Why not spend more time with me today? -GOD

By Ashley Shepherd

From the moment I sat down to wright everything around me became a distraction. Suddenly the dog began to whine to go out and be fed, the children that are supposed to be sleeping are now playing and talking to one another, and the sound of my husband in the other room joking with friends online which I generally block out became a nuisance. This in correlation with all the other thoughts inside my head pulling for my attention set me in a whirlwind.

It seems that is one of the enemies greatest tactics, to cause one to lose focus. When we lose our focus we loose our peace. The word says, “You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character]. Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation]” Isaiah 26:3. The opposite is true when we are not fixed on Him.

This is why it is upmost importance as Paul teaches, to take every thought captive that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. II Corinthians 10:5

When you begin to feel out of sorts and your external circumstances are dictating your emotions, it’s time to stop and take inventory and say, these are not my feelings I will not come in agreement with them or give them thought. Reposition your focus and align your spirit with His.

When we do this our hearts become settled. This word settled resonated in my spirit and when I looked up its meaning, in one instance it referred to a settlement, taking up ones residence. In the spiritual sense our hearts become inhabited as the Holy Spirit takes up residence in our hearts. This is the epitome of abiding as referred to in John 15.

True abiding despite circumstance gives fruit to the inner works of His spirit and as an outflow we see love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control demonstrated in our lives Galatians 5:22.

Take time to be with Him today, quiet yourself before Him, and let His presence take root in your hearts today. Peace is possible through Him. He truly does bring out the very best in all of us.

Tweets From God – Have you heard me lately say, “I love you?” …well, I do… -GOD

By Ashley Shepherd

But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

There are all kinds of reasons people deem themselves unloveable, perhaps because they’ve not experienced the love of an earthly mother or father or perhaps because they feel they’ve gone to far off the beaten path and shame and guilt plague them. No matter the story, remember this, He chose you in your worst state and deemed you valuable to Him. You have worth in the kingdom and if it were only you He’d do it all again. No one is unloveable and nothing is unforgivable. He’s waiting for you to come Home.

Did you hear that, I think He said it again, “I Love You”……God

Tweets From God – I want MY kids blessed! -GOD

By Ashley Shepherd

What is blessing? Is it material possessions, a kind word, something we pray over a meal, a polite remark after someone sneezes?

In today’s society the word blessings is common place and lacks significant meaning. As such, it’s easy to gloss over these words and not allow the reality of them take root in our hearts.

I want you right now where you are to close your eyes and imagine the Father as He extends His right arm and places His right hand on your head in full authority and power as He decrees life and blessing over you and releases your inheritance.

Through this symbolic act He not only accepts you by way of public proclamation as His child, but in the same way He says all that is mine you now have direct access to, you are a mere extension and reflection of me.

It is a call into your place of true identity, out of bondage and into life. Everything that once held you bound is now broken and you are made whole.

Do you realize whose child you are, do you!

Father may the reality of this ring true in the lives of all that are reading. Let the tangibleness of your spirit resonate within them. Shatter limitations, break bondages, and release freedom today. May we all walk in the power and authority you have placed within us. Set your children free and by your divine nature release supernatural blessings beyond human standards.

Blessings!
