Is This What You Are Looking For?

LAUNCH Results!

Hi Everyone,

If you are like me, you want to keep up to date with all the cool stuff from our Tapestry Balloon Launch. Here’s what I have so far!

1. Frank G. said – “We found the card in our front yard on June 4 at about 10:30. The card number is 46. Have a blessed day.” (We think this is a local find).

2. Dustin H. (That’s me hahaha) – I found card number 142 locally here in Rockville! It was encouraging finding one of the balloons myself since I was having tough week. It also let me know that they were findable!

3. Nicole S. said – I’m relocating to the area and I’m looking for a new home church! (Found in Washington, DC)

4. Brian C. said – 87 (I think… close call between 87 and 81). – I found the tag alone (balloon popped of course) on the forest floor of Greenbrier State Park in Washington county, MD (near Frederick). It is a bit water damaged. I found it while hiking down into the park from the Appalachian Trail to do some Geocaching (see http://geocaching.com for more info… great group activity for a church if you guys don’t already know about it!). I live over in (Name of area removed for privacy), so I think it’s incredible to have found the tag from a balloon launched from Rockville, in Frederick!! What a trip that must have been. Happy 3rd Anniversary!

Thanks to all for your wonderful feedback already! This is so amazing and fun. We hope to meet you all in the future!

Also, I’m going to be putting up all the photos from our Anniversary and from our Beach refreshing in the next 48 hours on Flickr. So, you can go to our gallery and see them there.

And you can click here for Zuzana’s pictures.

Blessings!

Remembering Dr. King

Dr. King

I HAD to take a moment to bow the head today, so to speak as we remember Dr. King this week. I read the daily thought from Charity Focus, which I am including here below. I also included my comment that I added to their site. Friends, few people have ever affected me in my search and quest for the radically balanced heart I have found in the Tapestry. Dr. King is one of the ones on that list with Nelson Mandela, Archbishop Desmond Tutu (Just an aside; I got to hear Archbishop Tutu speak at American University, in 2004), Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Abraham Lincoln. These often humble revolutionaries were not quiet and I believe that their legacy deserves remembrance. May we never forget from whence we came!

the Charity Focus’ Post:

January 16, 2007

“Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.”
–Martin Luther King Jr.

MLK’s Influence On You:
Almost 40 years after his death, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and his vision continue to provide hope and inspiration to the world. Marian Wright Edelman — activist and winner of the Albert Schweitzer Prize for Humanitarianism — offers reflections on her mentor’s life and message based on their friendship. In this article, Edelman lends insight into King’s definition of service, and encourages readers to celebrate the yearly American holiday as “a day on, not a day off,” using his birthday to come together for community service and action. [more]

Be The Change:
As a part of a special report on Martin Luther King Jr., CNN asked readers what impact his words and actions had on him. Read select responses and add your own reflection. [more]

My Comment:

Legacy is an interesting thing. It’s the act of leaving something behind when you yourself, must go on. It’s the knowledge that you, yourself may never get the benefit of the finished work, yet still continuing the work for those that come after you. It’s the desire to see your descendents, both genetic and not exceed your present status. It’s the dream that drives the visionary to continue when the mountain seems too high, the journey seems too long and the way too treacherous. It’s the award that no living man ever receives.

Legacy is the climax, crowning touch, finale, finish, height, payoff, peak, pinnacle, summit, and zenith of the often un-thanked yet fondly remembered. Legacy gives no pats on the back to the still living, yet is the greatest Eulogy of the recently past.

No artist has been fully appreciated in their own time.

May we leave a legacy. May we see the art in our existence though other men only see rubbish.

Just some thoughts as we remember Dr. King.

Thank you Dr. King for DREAMING. May we dream a bit today as we think of you. May we go and see over the mountains in our own lives. Thank you!

And as we continue to forge along this journey, I want to remind us to dream, imagine and have fun this year as we cross the mountains and enter the other side of our vision; “a community of faith lived daily in the Presence of GOD and connected openly with others.” I eagerly await the times that we go up to worship the Lord with joyful shouts and dancing.

Take a moment right now to listen to one of Dr. King’s messages. (CLICK HERE)

Oh GOD, may we dream and anticipate! Bring on the expectation!

AMEN!

Have a great week Tapestry!

Blessings!

Happy New Year Tapestry!

And what an exciting year it is going to be! Here are a few things to pray about.

1. The Reserve is going to be building it’s refreshing center and then finalizing paperwork to become a land reserve trust.

2. The Tapestry is praying about adding a Sunday Morning Service.

3. We are praying about a new venue.

4. More new life groups starting at the end of the month.

5. Tons of FUN events! We will be having more fun than you can shake a stick at this year.

6. Continuing the GSF Legacy of outreach!

7. MISSIONS, MISSIONS, & MORE MISSIONS!

All of which you will hear so much more about over the next couple of months.

And remember, we are going to dig into the topic of Signs, Wonders and the Kingdom of GOD this Sunday and for the next couple of weeks.

Blessings!

Hey Everyone!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I hope you all had a wonderful one! And now, we head into our New Year with much joy and anticipation! I am so very happy to have spent so much time with you guys over the last few days.
The 3rd Annual Christmas Party was a blast. I got my favorite gift, the Napoleon Finger Puppet and Seung stole my second favorite item, the Buca di Beppa Gift Certificate! I WILL GET YOU BACK! HAHAHA! The 3rd Annual Christmas Day dinner and a movie was also a great time. If you haven’t seen Night at the Museum, you need to. It is such a great movie and there were so many times I just lost it laughing!

Which brings me to my next point. Don’t forget what this year is in the Tapestry. With the changing of the New Year in just a few short days, we will be changing our direction ever so slightly. This year will be the year of Play!

We have worked so hard over the last few years, that this year, we are going to have some major fun!

Whather it’s game nights, small groups, parties, refreshings, tours, missions, outreach, evangelism, bowling, prayer and praise nights, Starting a morning Service, traveling, hiking, camping, rock climbing, beach tripping, Continuing our Evening Services, changing facilities, walking the Reserve land, meeting new people or whatever, this year, we endeavour to have tons of fun doing it.

I challenge you to make this the year of memories!

Take more pictures,
Laugh More,
Give More,
Share More,
Hang with family More,
Relax More,
Serve More,
Play More,
Smile More,
Say Thank You More,
Get the Door More,
Be More Cheerful,
Say More Nice Things,
Give More Encouraging Words,
Stop Bad thoughts with Good ones,
Have more Joy,
See more troubles as Challenges,
Show more character,
Give more grace,
Remember more good times,
Forget more bad memories,
Forgive more,
Dance more,

I think that it’s time to start celebrating. GOD is moving and every day we see HIM, so let us join HIM more this year than ever with joy in our hearts and expectation in our souls.
This year, GOD is going to change the minds of a lot of people about what church is all about and HE is going to use you to do it!

I am proud of you Tapestry!

I love you all much and look forward to this exciting year with each and every one of you!

Blessings!

Kickin It!pd
