Dinner Time Devotions Not a Bit of It – Episode #33

Every night around the supper table we do devotions. We spend time breaking apart a Scripture, a thought for the day based on that Scripture as well as a Bible Story for kids. We attempt to allow the kids most of the direction of the discussion and prayer in order to see them learn to lead. So, come join our family for supper and devotions!

Book News

So, as this new year progresses, one of the things on my list has been to complete my third book, “The Warrior’s Battle.” This book takes from my journals, sermons and video blogs (which we are going to begin to release those videos soon as well), and details the journey Lori, the kids, the church and I went through my sickness and healing. I am working to get as much of the doctor’s notes and references as I can (which is really challenging), and write up as much of the gleanings from the LORD as we talked during those years.

Last night I made it past the halfway point on this work and I really hope to complete it in the next month. So, please pray for that.

As far as the second book, we have a publisher for it. It is the Forest Fire book, telling the story of our experiences in college at UNC as we students sought GOD for a stirring revival/awakening on our campus and how that spread. We are still working out details to get it into print and hope to have it available before the first quarter ends in 2015. So, keep your eyes open and if you are a college student or if you know a college student, you have to get this into their hands!!!!!! We will share more as we launch that book and the new Forest Fire movement is rekindled!

Devotional Thought for the Day | When GOD Interrupts Us

I was frustrated last night as everyone in the house was sleeping early and no one was keeping me up for the first time in months and yet I could not sleep…

Praying, I let GOD know how off this was due to my need to heal and mend from having the flu over Christmas and this was my first chance to recover.

Out of nowhere, I did not hear a resounding voice over everything, I did not see a vision or have a dream, no thunder and lightning, no burning bush, I simply sensed an urge…

This burning in my gut is something I have learned is not simply a rush of emotion, a hormone, a chemical in my brain. It’s burn and origin of the burn is not of this world. I knew, Jesus’ Spirit was up to something and from the center of my being, I was captivated.

In a matter of 2 and a half hours, I had completed the framework and half of the work of my newest book. With both of the books I have written in 2014 and this book now that will be done in 2015, I give GOD credit. I am really not a writer even though my natural gift is story telling. However, when the Holy Spirit directs, I cannot help but do whatever HE is bidding.

If you are out there and there is something you have always wanted to do like writing a book, starting a business, doing some kind of ministry, don’t just go out and learn how to do it from courses and classes. Begin a conversation with Holy Spirit who lives inside you if you have Jesus as LORD. And listen. He may start the conversation with a deep drive to repent of something or go back and start by doing something he told you to do before that you did not do. Then do it, start there. Repent and run back to HIM. Start by inviting HIM to mess up your plans and keep you up at night. Then when the urge hits, run with it. HE still burns in my guts this morning. It’s the best thing in the world to be intimately aware of GOD’s nearness.

Just do it!
