The Dead Sea Scrolls Go Social | thoughts from pd

OK Guys,

You have to check this out. I am adding the link to the Google Blog where they talk about the Dead Sea Scrolls online. And in the blog they have tons of links you can go to.

Here is the blog: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2011/09/from-desert-to-web-bringing-dead-sea.html

Now, the reason this is so fun to me is because you get to look at the real deal that has been scanned and photo imaged. And as well, there is a social aspect where you can comment and connect. This is really fun.

Here is the link to the entire project by the Israel Museum that Google is powering: http://dss.collections.imj.org.il/

Anyways, here is the link to Isaiah.

So, get interactive with your faith!

Blessings!

If You Seek Him | Henry Blackaby

The LORD is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. 2 Chronicles 15:2

Our response to God greatly determines His presence in our lives. If we seek God with all of our hearts, then we will find Him (Jer. 29:13-14). The Lord wants to have fellowship with us, but He will not force a relationship upon us. We cannot reject fellowship with God and expect Him to remain near. He does not merely follow us throughout our day in case we need His crudistance. If we continue to forsake Him, a time will come when we desperately need Him and He will not be near (Isa. 59:1-2). It is an affront to sovereign God to treat Him like a servant who should wait upon us. God will relate to us on His terms, not ours. God desires a close walk with us. He will make His presence real and personal if that is our desire. If we repent of our sin and seek God on His terms, we can look forward to intimate fellowship with Him (James 4:8-10). We are to continually seek Him, not content to enter a new day without the crudurance that God is walking beside us. Do you say you want to experience God's presence while your actions reveal otherwise? If you say you want to know God better but neglect studying His word, are you truly seeking Him? Have you regularly forsaken the place of prayer? If your actions reveal that you are genuinely seeking God, then He promises that you will find Him (Matt. 7:7).

Praying to GOD in Secret | Oswald Chambers

When you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place . . . -Matthew 6:6

The primary thought in the area of religion is- keep your eyes on God, not on people. Your motivation should not be the desire to be known as a praying person. Find an inner room in which to pray where no one even knows you are praying, shut the door, and talk to God in secret. Have no motivation other than to know your Father in heaven. It is impossible to carry on your life as a disciple without definite times of secret prayer.

"When you pray, do not use vain repetitions . . ." (Matthew 6:7). God does not hear us because we pray earnestly- He hears us solely on the basis of redemption. God is never impressed by our earnestness. Prayer is not simply getting things from God- that is only the most elementary kind of prayer. Prayer is coming into perfect fellowship and oneness with God. If the Son of God has been formed in us through regeneration (see Galatians 4:19), then He will continue to press on beyond our common sense and will change our attitude about the things for which we pray.

"Everyone who asks receives . . ." (Matthew 7:8). We pray religious nonsense without even involving our will, and then we say that God did not answer- but in reality we have never asked for anything. Jesus said, ". . . you will ask what you desire. . ." (John 15:7). Asking means that our will must be involved. Whenever Jesus talked about prayer, He spoke with wonderful childlike simplicity. Then we respond with our critical attitude, saying, "Yes, but even Jesus said that we must ask." But remember that we have to ask things of God that are in keeping with the God whom Jesus Christ revealed.
