Verse(s) Behind the Lyrics:

Psalm 30:5

Story Behind the Song:

One day driving home I started to realize that Spring was on the way, winter had ended and all at once, I felt GOD’s Presence. I knew that He was with me. I had been working at Burt Associates for the last 7 months and having been away from Borders and all of the trials I had there, (You’ll have to read my story when I finish it. It will be in an initial book form hopefully by December). I realized just how blessed I was. The changing of a job and environment can totally bring life! I ran upstairs as soon as I got home and immediately penned these words. Just like so many of these songs, it was written and finished before I left my seat!

Verse(s) Behind the Lyrics:

Luke 22:60-62

Story Behind the Song:

The Tapestry had gone through some tough times. Many of the people who had come to the church had hurt, pain and broken lives. Ministering and serving them was such a heart-wrenching thing. This song was written during a time where there were many who needed healing. This song is written for them. Many of our leaders were not raised in the church. Instead, they were from various faith backgrunds or no faith at all. However, the Lord took the ones least likely and made them the most amazing team I have ever known in my now, almost 12 years of ministry! This song was never truly meant to be worship, but a heart-cry to GOD.

The Lord gave me this song on Easter of 2006. It came from the thoughts and feelings I felt as I meditated that morning on the passage that described Peter’s denial of Jesus and then his weeping.

Verse(s) Behind the Lyrics:

2 Corinthians 13:14

Story Behind the Song:

In planting the Tapestry Vineyard, we had begun to think that maybe we in the church had gotten things backwards. Maybe the future of the church wasn’t neater, didn’t have the BEST equipment or the GREATEST programs. We weren’t interested in in being BETTER, only in getting nearer the Presence of GOD. Intimacy was written out of longing to get back to the ancient and closer to the friendship the early church experienced with GOD’s Holy Spirit.

Verse(s) Behind the Lyrics:

John 4:24

Story Behind the Song:

This was the first song I wrote after 4 years of no song-writing. I wrote this as the Tapestry approached its second year of age. I had been telling the guys that we needed to start to write new music. It was time for us to focus on being worshipers of GOD above all else. So, as I prayed, the Lord began to give me music. This is the first of 23 songs that I wrote between April and September of 2006. I am still writing, but the interesting thing is the love I have for worship now and how I NEVER was able to write like this before! GOD had taken the Creation, invaded and made the creation creative. It was this song that the Lord breathed this idea into my heart… “Preach through music. Write songs that have tons of Scripture in them and help people get the Word into their memories. Then, when they sing, the words of the song are like prayers to me and I will answer.” So, be careful singing these songs. They have prayers attached! You know, I’m a Pastor, not a worship leader, so all these songs attempt to balance the Spirit and Word on purpose. It’s a Radical Balance! That’s what this song is about. So, as you sing, worship in Spirit and Truth! Enjoy!

Verse(s) Behind the Lyrics:

Psalm 91 & Job 1

Story Behind the Song:

I was working at a church a few years back and as in so many cases, had a hard time with some situations and people. Sometimes it seems churches and church people can be so hard to get along with. And during the whole time-period, some people said some very mean things. But, at the same time, I knew that I had to stick to my principles and beliefs and not back down. (Many of those same people have come arund now and are supporters and have since apologized). But during this time, it seemed like all was at its bleakest. At that very dame time, I realized that the greatest offense against what I was dealing with was to praise the Lord. Every time I sang it, I felt so much better. Sometimes, I would come straight home, run in, get my guitar and play it. This song was written in 2002. I hope you enjoy!
