Mozy Backup Solution Just Released a FREE 2GB Solution

Mozy Backup has been one of my favorite solutions. I personally backup about 100GB of data with them and have three machines connected to their system, which I might add is fairly bullet proof. Right now, their latest press release states that they offer a FREE 2GB account! That doesn’t sound that great, however, peace of mind is everything…

Reviewing the WP-Cumulus Flash Tag Cloud Plugin

Roy Tanck’s WP-Cumulus allows you to display your site’s tags, categories or both using a Flash movie that rotates them in 3D. It works just like a regular tags cloud, but is more visually exciting. Clicking the tags can be a little hard (depending on your speed setting) but does take you to the appropriate page. The sources code is from subversion. It is developed from a cool site called Tweet3D for Twitter. You can find it here: http://tweet3d.com/. This is one of my favorite WordPress plugins of the year!

5 Battered, but Worthy, Stocks

Stocks usually sell off for a reason. Sometimes a stock price declines because the market has efficiently digested new information and appropriately discounted its value. And sometimes a stock price spikes downward because people panic. There are a few stocks out there we still need to keep our eye on: TGB, TEX, GIGM, AIB, GA. Read on for more…

Congress has a plan

Lawmakers agree on bailout principles to protect taxpayers and ensure oversight. Great stuff. This is one of those times in history where I have to say I am proud of our Congress. I am proud both because they have helped our economy and because they have protected the taxpayer. Now, my only thought is that we all should stay relatively calm as everything begins to hash out. This is the beginning. It’s more like a band-aid than stitches, but this can be the beginning. So, congratulations both Democrat and Republican leaders, you’ve done something for your people today. I just want to say thank you for caring for those of us who’ve been playing it fiscally safe for the last 3-4 years.

Bailout: The Sucker Punch

Many people are convinced that something akin to a financial apocalypse will occur if the $700 billion bailout isn’t rammed through quickly. Some major questions and issues about our socioeconomic situation are getting lost in all the panic and noise. Ms. Lomax is asking the right questions in her article vilifying those of us who’ve saved money wisely and waited to buy a home or spend until the right time.

What’s the Worst That Can Happen? Oh…

It seems that everything from war to economic disaster has been sold to the American public by means of FEAR for the last few years. Maybe we should stop and take a deep breath before we jump anymore. I am not making a statement about politics, necessarily, however; I am saying that from this point on, maybe, we as a people shouldn’t simply trust anything and everything that a public figure tells us. Maybe we should take a moment to think and breathe and then act. Maybe we should think LONG TERM and maybe we should remember that just because it is in the news or on TV does not make it the full-truth. We forget that it’s blood in the streets that sells newspapers.

I am not a sarcastic person, but I like Greenwald’s commentary…

“YOU MAY HAVE noticed an abrupt change over the last week in the rhetoric from Washington. Before, the fundamentals were sound, the housing correction was to be expected, and the economy on its way to quick recovery with just a little bit of official encouragement. Now, not so much.”

This isn’t Financial Armageddon

Yes, we’re in a crisis. But is it a disaster? No. Here is some common sense from a Fortune Magazine writer. I actually like the angle that this piece is written from. There are three things that we need to notice before we SCREAM that today is the end of the world. 1 – Remembering history and what happened during the Great Depression. 2 – Making the CO’s who are responsible pay too. 3 – Wall Street is not coming to an end. I am convinced as well that much of what we see is due to: 1 – Media Hype. 2 – Election Day Politics. 3 – Lack of consumer confidence. If we would all take a deep breath of air, we would realize that at the end of the day, Armageddon will be a much different kind of day. Read on for more of what Fortune Magazine and CNN Money think about it.

A green credit crunch?

If Wall Street
’s implosion can feel remote on the West Coast, where green tech startups largely rely on Silicon Valley venture capital, there may be no escaping the fallout from the credit crunch. All this means for those of us who are cashing in on the Christmas-like stock savings and on-sale prices of anything we’ve ever wanted in the market should keep our eyes open for opportunities to add these positions to our portfolios at a savings. This article seems to share the issue. Still, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH and get in on the ones that are at great savings. And as I always say, “Think like you are shopping at a yard sale or at the local Goodwill Store. NEVER PAY FULL PRICE! LOL!

ETF Teardown: The Best GOLD Stocks

Noted for their simplicity and other advantages over mutual funds, exchange-traded funds have become a popular investing tool. ETFs hold a collection of stocks that share certain elements and allow investors to get in early on what they believe are tomorrow’s big trends. If you are going to invest in gold in a time where it might be getting inflated due to hype, this might be the best article to find some possibilities for undervalued companies or ones on their way. Remember my saying, “Cool isn’t cool!” So, be leery of anything that others think is COOL!!!!

LOL. Enjoy!
