Yahoo Announces New Digital Ad Platform

In efforts to bypass the barriers to scaling large online advertising campaigns, Yahoo today announced the launch of APT, its new digital advertising platform. Calling the system a “transformative development” in online advertising, APT hopes to streamline the ad buying process across multiple accounts and publishers.

This exciting new opportunity is great for smaller organizations. As a small business owner, I personally don’t have the resources or time first off to get ads out to newspapers which both Google and Yahoo offer easy options, however, Yahoo does more than that allowing the advertiser to research and connect to their target audience. And the platform is great!

Dusting Off the Rules of Financial Responsibility

Suze Orman’s final article for Yahoo Finance is a MUST read. I have to say that I agree with a majority of what she states here. It is time to look at what we have done so that we act differently in the future. We should have known, we did not act and now, we as a people are paying for it. I wish more people had acted wisely like this article says.

Listen to the first lines of her article: “This is my final Money Matters column for Yahoo! Finance, and that has me thinking about what’s transpired since the column debuted in February 2004. Let’s just say these have been very interesting times. It just so happens that February 2004 was when the then-venerated — yes, venerated — Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan uttered this famous analysis: ‘American consumers might benefit if lenders provided greater mortgage product alternatives to the traditional fixed-rate mortgage.’ At the time, I strongly disagreed with Greenspan. Encouraging lenders and borrowers to take on more risk than they could really afford just didn’t make sense. But as is the case with bubbles, especially those where the chairman of the Federal Reserve is doing some of the inflating, they often expand for a while before finally popping.”

Equity Markets, Forex and Precious Metals

Another month has passed by. Markets have experienced the usual drama, just some variation on the script. We’re gone from some people screaming oil at $250 to other people screaming it at $30; from people calling the near demise of our contemporary monetary system and advising you to bury yourself in a hole with a year or more supply of food…

I really like this Seeking Alpha blog and some of the others like it. I align myself with the group that says everyone needs to relax a bit. I don’t start selling everything just because someone says the sky is falling. Read on to see what they say…

Green energy’s big win in Congress

After a year of stalemate that threatened to strangle the nascent United States solar industry, the U.S. Senate on Tuesday passed energy legislation that extends a key investment tax credit until 2016. My thought is: AWESOME! I am so thankful for this current election situation. It seems that nobody wanted to go home from session this year with the thought that they didn’t decide for the voters. This is one of those very brief times where our policy makers voted the way we NEEDED! I really believe that they would have never made the decision they made if it didn’t play such a critical role in this election. WAY TO GO VOTERS!

Warren Buffett to Step In!

In its first big move to raise capital, Goldman Sachs Group announced Tuesday that it will receive a $5 billion infusion from Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, an investment that could also raise confidence in the venerable Wall Street firm. I am actually impressed with an individual that takes risk upon themselves to help a nation.

Here’s How to Double Your Nest Egg

Tens of thousands of Americans are doing something similar with a “self-directed” IRA. These arrangements allow investors to use retirement assets to buy almost anything that generates a stream of income, provided the income flows right back into their retirement account. About 2 percent of the $5.7 trillion IRA market is in such investments…

Android’s threat to the iPhone

If Google plays its cards right, its unveiling of the first Android-powered phone on Tuesday will prove to be more than a distraction from iPhone-mania – it will be the moment the search giant capitalizes on Apple’s control issues. I am personally excited because this means there will be an OPEN PLATFORM, a NEW OS, and as always, Google’s consistent approach to organic growth of Open Source and Free solutions on the internet and elsewhere. I really do love Google’s thinking.

However, do note that they don’t do it purely from motives that are to benefit all people, they make their money in ads. However, who doesn’t anymore, right? I say, bring on the Google Apps, the Google Search, the Google opportunities. And bring on the re-balancing of this very out of control Apple iPhone world!
