Born to missionary parents in Japan, Robby had an early start in ministry. In his father’s church he began a children’s ministry at the age of 12, and became the youth minister at 16 years old. Robby says, “I knew from a young age that God had called me into ministry. My parents say that from the age of 2, I told people that I would grow up and be a missionary.” In many ways that has been the case in Robby’s life.
Robby and his wife, Angie, married in 1992, have pastored the Vineyard Church of Aurora, IL since 1996. They feel God called them to plant in a poor urban community, and continually use “power evangelism” to gather for the church. They estimate that over 50% of current attenders have come to Christ at the Vineyard Aurora, and that almost ¾ of those have come through “power” encounters.
“In addition to starting and pastoring this church, God has called me for the purpose of building up and equipping the local church with power tools for harvesting,” Robby shares. These “power tools” are prophetic ministry, healing, ministry of the presence of God, and deliverance from demonic power. Robby loves to tell literally hundreds of stories of his personal experiences, which include God using him and others he has mentored through the years to see God’s Kingdom “break in” with signs and wonders.
Having been in over 30 countries around the world, God has used him to help build the church internationally as well. He has ministered in many Muslim countries and in 2 of the top 10 most dangerous countries according to Voice of the Martyrs magazine

Message From Mission Team in Colombia!

Hey Guys,

Here is the encouraging message I just got from Pastor Jose in Colombia! Let this encourage and inspire you and let’s keep praying for he and Lina this week!!!!

Blessings!

pd

Jose’s Message:

at missionary time.  Martin gets up at  4:30 am for devotions,
and to answer his email and make lesson plans.  School starts at 630 am.

On Saturday, we went to the slum church at La Reliquia.  The kids there sang the Bible songs that Martin teaches them with such vigor that puts all of us adults to shame.  Only AB could match their enthusiasm.  About 80 kids from this slum show up every Saturday at 5pm.  They get crackers and juice, and also, church people send a bag of clothes to pass out.  There is a neighbor that does not want the church to build a secure structure, but Martin’s group (2 elders and wives) is doing so much that I know he will be won over eventually.  Reminds me of Sanballat and Tobiah in Nehemiah’s day.  I taught a group of adults a lesson while Martin taught a kids lesson with music and coloring Bible characters.

I preached on Sunday  to a very healthy mother church that meets in Peniel school grounds of 150 adults plus a large number of youth.  They have 5 elders including Martin, and they have praise teams that rotate with preachers to support the churches that have been planted.  Martin’s home base is the school teaching role, but on weekends, he is an evangelist/worship leader wherever he needs to go.

By the way, Dustin, google Marcos Witt and his music.  It is well written and used all over Latin America.  You will learn Spanish very quickly with it.

I appreciate your continued prayers.  There is a family with a mother who has Lupus; I prayed for her healing so please pray as well.  Our visit with cousin Walbert went very well and yielded GREAT contacts for Lina and I.  I found a basketball coach in Cartagena and Lina met a lady that works with an NGO from Norway.  We have lots of people to contact for Lina so that she can find human rights work in Colombia through an internship; especially in Cartagena.

Well, we are off to school to meet some wonderful kids that we saw in church.  Lina should be sending pictures soon.

God’s richest blessings,

tu hermano jose

Relationship, Not Uselfulness is Success | Oswald Chambers

Do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven -Luke 10:20

Jesus Christ is saying here, "Don't rejoice in your successful service for Me, but rejoice because of your right relationship with Me." The trap you may fall into in Christian work is to rejoice in successful service- rejoicing in the fact that God has used you. Yet you will never be able to measure fully what God will do through you if you have a right-standing relationship with Jesus Christ. If you keep your relationship right with Him, then regardless of your circumstances or whoever you encounter each day, He will continue to pour "rivers of living water" through you (John 7:38). And it is actually by His mercy that He does not let you know it. Once you have the right relationship with God through salvation and sanctification, remember that whatever your circumstances may be, you have been placed in them by God. And God uses the reaction of your life to your circumstances to fulfill His purpose, as long as you continue to "walk in the light as He is in the light" (1 John 1:7).

Our tendency today is to put the emphasis on service. Beware of the people who make their request for help on the basis of someone's usefulness. If you make usefulness the test, then Jesus Christ was the greatest failure who ever lived. For the saint, direction and guidance come from God Himself, not some measure of that saint's usefulness. It is the work that God does through us that counts, not what we do for Him. All that our Lord gives His attention to in a person's life is that person's relationship with God- something of great value to His Father. Jesus is "bringing many sons to glory . . ." (Hebrews 2:10).

Life is But the Weaving | the Tapestry Poem | Corrie Tem Boom

Life is But a Weaving
Corrie Ten Boom (The Tapestry Poem)

My life is but a weaving
Between my God and me.
I cannot choose the colors
He weaveth steadily.
Oft' times He weaveth sorrow;
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I the underside.
Not 'til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas
And reveal the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful
In the weaver's skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned
He knows, He loves, He cares;
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives the very best to those
Who leave the choice to Him.

(Corrie Ten Boom often used this poem as she described a Tapestry that hangs currently at the museum. I challenge you to read, "The Hiding Place).

Surrender | Oswald Chambers

I have finished the work which You have given Me to do -John 17:4

True surrender is not simply surrender of our external life but surrender of our will- and once that is done, surrender is complete. The greatest crisis we ever face is the surrender of our will. Yet God never forces a person's will into surrender, and He never begs. He patiently waits until that person willingly yields to Him. And once that battle has been fought, it never needs to be fought again.

Surrender for Deliverance. "Come to Me . . . and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). It is only after we have begun to experience what salvation really means that we surrender our will to Jesus for rest. Whatever is causing us a sense of uncertainty is actually a call to our will- "Come to Me." And it is a voluntary coming.

Surrender for Devotion. "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself . . . " (Matthew 16:24). The surrender here is of my self to Jesus, with His rest at the heart of my being. He says, "If you want to be My disciple, you must give up your right to yourself to Me." And once this is done, the remainder of your life will exhibit nothing but the evidence of this surrender, and you never need to be concerned again with what the future may hold for you. Whatever your circumstances may be, Jesus is totally sufficient (see 2 Corinthians 12:9 and (Philippians 4:19).

Surrender for Death. ". . . another will gird you . . ." (John 21:18 ; also see John21:19). Have you learned what it means to be girded for death? Beware of some surrender that you make to God in an ecstatic moment in your life, because you are apt to take it back again. True surrender is a matter of being "united together [with Jesus] in the likeness of His death" (Romans 6:5) until nothing ever appeals to you that did not appeal to Him.
And after you surrender- then what? Your entire life should be characterized by an eagerness to maintain unbroken fellowship and oneness with God.
