THIRD OPTION MEN – I Hate Your Cell Phone

By Christian Lemon  Originally published at http://www.thirdoptionmen.org/blog/hate-cell-phone/  on March 22, 2011.

I hate your cell phone.  I hate the way your head is always bent over your cell phone.  I hate the way the screen lights your face at night.  I hate the way you text in traffic.  I hate your apps.  I hate how you feel the need to be connected to an infinite electronic world every second of the day.  I hate how every question can be answered by your phone.  I hate how it gives you directions.  I hate, that with your phone, you can find your way.

I hate that you might be reading this on your cell phone.

I hate that your cell phone gives you comfort.  Your cell phone is always with you, just within reach.  You feel lost without it.  Your cell phone will never gather dust.  Your cell phone will never be forgotten.  It may be upgraded, or traded in for a new model, but your cell phone will endure.  You will not give it up.

I hate that when you need a little light, you pull out your cell phone.  When you gaze at the night sky, you do it through the eyes of your cell phone.  When you need to talk someone you use your cell phone – not to talk, but to send a message.  Your cell phone separates you.  Your cell phone divides you.  Your cell phone keeps you a safe distance from the others, the others and their cell phones.

I hate when you meet someone for the first time you make sure they see your cell phone.  You both discuss cell phones.  You talk about how much you love your cell phones.  You list all the amazing features of your cell phone.  You both laugh about your reliance on cell phones, and you proudly proclaim you couldn’t live without it.  You sit, within inches of one another, but are somewhere else, taken away by your cell phones.

I find myself jealous.  Jealous of your cell phone.  I wish I was the first thing you reached for in the morning.  I wish you carried me with you everywhere.  I wish I was what you brag about, read about, thought about.  I wish I was the reason you bonded with someone.  I wish you felt the burning need to talk about me, whenever you met someone new.  I wish I could shed a little light when you need it.  I wish you would allow me to provide a little direction when you are lost.  I wish you would think of me when you gaze at the night sky.

I’m jealous.  Always have been.  Always will be.  I hate your cell phone.

Will You Go Without Knowing? | Oswald Chambers

He went out, not knowing where he was going -Hebrews 11:8

Have you ever "gone out" in this way? If so, there is no logical answer possible when anyone asks you what you are doing. One of the most difficult questions to answer in Christian work is, "What do you expect to do?"You don't know what you are going to do. The only thing you know is that God knows what He is doing. Continually examine your attitude toward God to see if you are willing to "go out" in every area of your life, trusting in God entirely. It is this attitude that keeps you in constant wonder, because you don't know what God is going to do next. Each morning as you wake, there is a new opportunity to "go out," building your confidence in God. ". . . do not worry about your life . . . nor about the body . . ." (Luke 12:22). In other words, don't worry about the things that concerned you before you did "go out."

Have you been asking God what He is going to do? He will never tell you. God does not tell you what He is going to do- He reveals to you who He is. Do you believe in a miracle-working God, and will you "go out" in complete surrender to Him until you are not surprised one iota by anything He does?

Believe God is always the God you know Him to be when you are nearest to Him. Then think how unnecessary and disrespectful worry is! Let the attitude of your life be a continual willingness to "go out" in dependence upon God, and your life will have a sacred and inexpressible charm about it that is very satisfying to Jesus. You must learn to "go out" through your convictions, creeds, or experiences until you come to the point in your faith where there is nothing between yourself and God.

Finances, Health & Relationships… The Three Legged Stool That Affects the Footing of Our Faithlife! | A Thought from PD

Happy New Year Again Everyone!!!!!

I hope your year is off to a great start. I look forward to seeing many of you back this week after your travels. And I hope that you have already joined in on listening or reading through the Bible together through the year on the Tapestry Mobile App: http://app.tapestrylife.org.

Now with that said, I am on a crusade to bring health in various ways to our church after experiencing some challenges that I shared Sunday and I will further release info on later the rest of the world. So, I have compiled a list of a few links that may be helpful for you to review this year! Hopefully they will help you with finances AND stir you up to think about our upcoming Dave Ramsey FPU course as well as a fitness option that is coming to the Tapestry early this year and more to come by year's end.

I am doing this because this year we really believe that we need to focus on all the things that can choke or kill our faith. The main things that affect the seed in the story of the seed and the sower had to do with external daily realities. If we are wise and plan and keep our focus on Jesus, it will allow us to be planted in deep, rich, good soil. And if we further take care of the daily things that can choke us when not wisely dealt with, we will be successful stewards and be able to walk a long, fruitful journey with GOD. It's not that these items are more important than faith. Truthfully, faith is where our roots run deep and the rest is an outflow of our relationship with Jesus, however, we often find that not being good stewards of these three things can often undermine and choke our faith life. So, there is a bit of harmony that is needed and the wise follower of Jesus looks at all of these aspects as they… "work out their salvation with fear and trembling…"

The three legs of the three legged stool we are focusing on this year are:
1 – Having Healthy Relationships (Dating & Family)
2 – Having Healthy Finances
3 – Having GREAT Personal physical, mental & spiritual health

Below you will find some items for each of these, but primarily first focused on finance since we are starting Dave Ramsey's course again and on personal health since Christy Jones is going to be sharing later about an AWESOME fitness/health group that is coming this year to the Tapestry as well.

So, with that said, there will be more to come, but this is our 2012 start!

Blessings!
