Will You Go Without Knowing? | Oswald Chambers

He went out, not knowing where he was going -Hebrews 11:8

Have you ever "gone out" in this way? If so, there is no logical answer possible when anyone asks you what you are doing. One of the most difficult questions to answer in Christian work is, "What do you expect to do?"You don't know what you are going to do. The only thing you know is that God knows what He is doing. Continually examine your attitude toward God to see if you are willing to "go out" in every area of your life, trusting in God entirely. It is this attitude that keeps you in constant wonder, because you don't know what God is going to do next. Each morning as you wake, there is a new opportunity to "go out," building your confidence in God. ". . . do not worry about your life . . . nor about the body . . ." (Luke 12:22). In other words, don't worry about the things that concerned you before you did "go out."

Have you been asking God what He is going to do? He will never tell you. God does not tell you what He is going to do- He reveals to you who He is. Do you believe in a miracle-working God, and will you "go out" in complete surrender to Him until you are not surprised one iota by anything He does?

Believe God is always the God you know Him to be when you are nearest to Him. Then think how unnecessary and disrespectful worry is! Let the attitude of your life be a continual willingness to "go out" in dependence upon God, and your life will have a sacred and inexpressible charm about it that is very satisfying to Jesus. You must learn to "go out" through your convictions, creeds, or experiences until you come to the point in your faith where there is nothing between yourself and God.

Merry Christmas! See you on New Year’s Day!

Finances, Health & Relationships… The Three Legged Stool That Affects the Footing of Our Faithlife! | A Thought from PD

Happy New Year Again Everyone!!!!!

I hope your year is off to a great start. I look forward to seeing many of you back this week after your travels. And I hope that you have already joined in on listening or reading through the Bible together through the year on the Tapestry Mobile App: http://app.tapestrylife.org.

Now with that said, I am on a crusade to bring health in various ways to our church after experiencing some challenges that I shared Sunday and I will further release info on later the rest of the world. So, I have compiled a list of a few links that may be helpful for you to review this year! Hopefully they will help you with finances AND stir you up to think about our upcoming Dave Ramsey FPU course as well as a fitness option that is coming to the Tapestry early this year and more to come by year's end.

I am doing this because this year we really believe that we need to focus on all the things that can choke or kill our faith. The main things that affect the seed in the story of the seed and the sower had to do with external daily realities. If we are wise and plan and keep our focus on Jesus, it will allow us to be planted in deep, rich, good soil. And if we further take care of the daily things that can choke us when not wisely dealt with, we will be successful stewards and be able to walk a long, fruitful journey with GOD. It's not that these items are more important than faith. Truthfully, faith is where our roots run deep and the rest is an outflow of our relationship with Jesus, however, we often find that not being good stewards of these three things can often undermine and choke our faith life. So, there is a bit of harmony that is needed and the wise follower of Jesus looks at all of these aspects as they… "work out their salvation with fear and trembling…"

The three legs of the three legged stool we are focusing on this year are:
1 – Having Healthy Relationships (Dating & Family)
2 – Having Healthy Finances
3 – Having GREAT Personal physical, mental & spiritual health

Below you will find some items for each of these, but primarily first focused on finance since we are starting Dave Ramsey's course again and on personal health since Christy Jones is going to be sharing later about an AWESOME fitness/health group that is coming this year to the Tapestry as well.

So, with that said, there will be more to come, but this is our 2012 start!

Blessings!
pd

Madlibs with the Bible

Remember mad libs? You'd have this page with a list of word types – noun, adjective, verb, transitive verb, prepositional phrase, past perfect non-transitive preposition…. Ok maybe not the last one. But you'd come up with this list turn the page and then insert your word choices in order in the blanks specified and then get some ridiculous story that almost always left people rolling on the floor in fits of painful laughter.

Example
Three blueish mice. See how they run!
They all ran after the farmer's accountant,
Who cut off their ipads with a carving cellphone.
Did you ever see such a sight in your life as three blueish mice?

Question: This Sunday Peter talked about playing Madlibs with scripture…sorta. Take 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and replace the word "love" with your name – is the pcrudage still true? I mean I know people have said "replace Love with Jesus and you get a picture of Jesus." Well if we're supposed to be Christ like right? So can we replace our names in there?

Answer: Cards on the table, I did this and got an epic fail. I mean EPIC fail. If Ben Hur was the star of Lord of the Rings recast against the backdrop of an evil galactic empire it would not come close to the epicness of my fail here. But I can honestly say that I am trying, and I am getting better… according to my wife at least and I think that counts for a lot.

So what next? I now have seen a glimpse of what the ideal me looks like. "Sage is patient, Sage is kind. He does not envy, he does not boast." So I got something to work towards. It isn't the complete picture, and I probably won't get there for a good long while, but that doesn't mean I can't do better.

About John Wimber:

Shortly after John Wimber became a Christian, he became a voracious Bible reader. The Scriptures excited him, and finally after reading for weeks about life changing miracles in the Bible and attending boring church services, John asked one of the lay leaders…"When do we get to do the stuff ??" "What stuff," asked the leader. "You know the stuff here in the Bible, the stuff Jesus did like healing the sick, raising the dead, healing the blind…You know, stuff like that! " "Well, we don't do that anymore," the man said to John…John answered, "You mean i gave drugs up for that ??" John had much pcrudion for the Scriptures, but he also often said…"It's not enough to be Biblically literate, we must also learn to be Biblically obedient." — We think that about sums up John. His drive to understand scripture, teach it, and do it.

Not only was John the leader of the Vineyard Movement, he was an evangelist, worship leader, songwriter, and pastor. However John is most renowned for his practical application of the Gospel in order to 'do the stuff' that Jesus did. His impact on the church world-wide is still evident today, even since his pcruding in 1997.
