We always have a vision of something before it actually becomes real to us. When we realize that the vision is real, but is not yet real in us, Satan comes to us with his temptations, and we are inclined to say that there is no point in even trying to continue. Instead of the vision becoming real to us, we have entered into a valley of humiliation.
Life is not as idle ore,
But iron dug from central gloom,
And battered by the shocks of doom
To shape and use.

God gives us a vision, and then He takes us down to the valley to batter us into the shape of that vision. It is in the valley that so many of us give up and faint. Every God-given vision will become real if we will only have patience. Just think of the enormous amount of free time God has! He is never in a hurry. Yet we are always in such a frantic hurry. While still in the light of the glory of the vision, we go right out to do things, but the vision is not yet real in us. God has to take us into the valley and put us through fires and floods to batter us into shape, until we get to the point where He can trust us with the reality of the vision. Ever since God gave us the vision, He has been at work. He is getting us into the shape of the goal He has for us, and yet over and over again we try to escape from the Sculptor's hand in an effort to batter ourselves into the shape of our own goal.

The vision that God gives is not some unattainable castle in the sky, but a vision of what God wants you to be down here. Allow the Potter to put you on His wheel and whirl you around as He desires. Then as surely as God is God, and you are you, you will turn out as an exact likeness of the vision. But don't lose heart in the process. If you have ever had a vision from God, you may try as you will to be satisfied on a lower level, but God will never allow it.

Prophetic Word and Reminder

A Word from Robby Dawkins to Vineyard Pastors that Spoke to me…

Vineyard Pastors and Leaders,

This is just a quick follow up to the first e-mail I sent out on the Empowered Conference that we are doing here at my church in Aurora, IL. But first I would like to share something.

I believe this is one of the most critical times for the Vineyard movement. Years ago while I was watching "Lord of the Rings" I was moved beyond words when I saw the scene of Gandalf entering in to confront King Théoden. As you saw this powerful deliverance (as some have described it) take place I had the strong sense that we were in the same place. I heard the Lord say to me "as quickly as that image of Gandalf broke through the veil that held Théoden captive, so I can break through the veil that has waxed over my leaders." God is calling us out of that place of being waxed over and back into that place of being covered with "the Honey" (a word picture Wimber used to use).

The Lord spoke to me a few weeks ago while having a devotional time. I heard Him say, "Many are asking who will lead us? Who will be our next director and where will they take us?" I then heard Him say, "Have I moved away? No! Many are praying in their closets as individuals but I am calling you to call a Solemn Assembly; A collective time of praying and fasting together. Not so that the Vineyard will grow larger, but that I would grow larger in my Vineyard." I have submitted that word to the Vineyard leaders.

I think most everyone would agree that there has been a shift in focus that has occurred over the past 13+ years. I believe God is calling us back to that place where we would meet Him in His Presence. In my heart I know the Vineyard has been called to more than a "Church Planting Movement", I believe God originally called us to be a "People of the Presence Movement". The focus years ago on the Father’s Heart and Catch the Fire themes that were so rich for us have since shifted to our back ground rather than staying in our forefront. As I have traveled the country and world responding to the requests of Pastors to come and help stir the presence in their churches again as well as birth a fresh passion for Power Evangelism, I see people who long for us to return to "the main and the plain" and to what we have known the Vineyard was suppose to be.

I believe the Empowered Conference is about that. This is a conference where we will experience the Presence in a fresh way and not only train you for your church seeing and doing more of the stuff, but put it into practice both in the meetings and out on the streets. John Wimber used to talk about the Vineyard not just being a movement of theoreticians but also practitioners of the Kingdom. This conference will endeavor to empower us to see that happen. We will also be focusing on shifting the culture of your church to see more Power operating in your church as well as Power Evangelism taking place in a naturally Supernatural way.

I am excited to inform you that we have been able to have some additional speakers for our line-up at the end of August. At this point Happy & Diane Leman, Steve Nicholson, J Leman, Dave Fredrick and Ed Loughran will be doing teaching breakout sessions and I will be speaking in our sessions. Casey Corum has agreed to lead worship for us as well. We only have space for and the ability to accommodate outreaches for 100 pastor and leaders. Because of this it is first come first serve.

Work Out What GOD Works IN | Oswald Chambers

. . . work out your own salvation . . . for it is God who works in you . . . -Philippians 2:12-13

Your will agrees with God, but in your flesh there is a nature that renders you powerless to do what you know you ought to do. When the Lord initially comes in contact with our conscience, the first thing our conscience does is awaken our will, and our will always agrees with God. Yet you say, "But I don't know if my will is in agreement with God." Look to Jesus and you will find that your will and your conscience are in agreement with Him every time. What causes you to say "I will not obey" is something less deep and penetrating than your will. It is perversity or stubbornness, and they are never in agreement with God. The most profound thing in a person is his will, not sin.

The will is the essential element in God's creation of human beings- sin is a perverse nature which entered into people. In someone who has been born again, the source of the will is Almighty God. ". . . for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." With focused attention and great care, you have to "work out" what God "works in" you- not work to accomplish or earn "your own salvation," but work it out so you will exhibit the evidence of a life based with determined, unshakable faith on the complete and perfect redemption of the Lord. As you do this, you do not bring an opposing will up against God's will- God's will is your will. Your natural choices will be in accordance with God's will, and living this life will be as natural as breathing. Stubbornness is an unintelligent barrier, refusing enlightenment and blocking its flow. The only thing to do with this barrier of stubbornness is to blow it up with "dynamite," and the "dynamite" is obedience to the Holy Spirit.

Do I believe that Almighty God is the Source of my will? God not only expects me to do His will, but He is in me to do it.

Empowered Evangelism Conference with Robby Dawkins
That's right. He is coming to the Tapestry and will be doing a conference with us the weekend of August 12-14, 2011. We still have not selected the date, however, things are heating up. So, if you are planning on coming, you need to RSVP ASAP. Email Lori at lorihedrick@tapestrychurch.org and if you want to help with some of the conference experience, email her as well and ask, "How can I help…" We are now expecting possibly 200 people or more, so knowing if you are going to be a part is IMPORTANT since we need to arrange for space. It wills start Friday night at 7pm and will be all day Saturday with Robby being at the Tapestry Sunday morning.

We are splitting our one kiddos class into 3! Our very patient 8 year old is tired of hanging out with the 3 year olds and our babies are starting to discover their voices! To pull this off right each Sunday we need 2 people to help with the babies. 2 people to help with our 2-5 year olds and 1 person to help with the 6-10 year olds. Furious Love Movie This Sunday After Service & Pizza!

Hey Everyone,

I TOTALLY FORGOT TO mention something Sunday and I want to make sure that you know!!!!!! We will have a short sermon this coming Sunday and we will follow it with a special screening of “The Furious Love” Movie that has Robby Dawkins in it. It will be directly after service and we are planning on chipping in together and ordering a ton of pizza. So, come on out!!!!!

And if you have friends or family you think may benefit in seeing the movie, invite them to come out.

We hope to really see all of us stirred up for the Kingdom of GOD and for praying and preparing for this conference in August.

Drawing on the Grace of GOD -NOW | Oswald Chambers

We . . . plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain -2 Corinthians 6:1

The grace you had yesterday will not be sufficient for today. Grace is the overflowing favor of God, and you can always count on it being available to draw upon as needed. ". . . in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses"- that is where our patience is tested (2 Corinthians 6:4). Are you failing to rely on the grace of God there? Are you saying to yourself, "Oh well, I won't count this time"? It is not a question of praying and asking God to help you- it is taking the grace of God now. We tend to make prayer the preparation for our service, yet it is never that in the Bible. Prayer is the practice of drawing on the grace of God. Don't say, "I will endure this until I can get away and pray." Pray now – draw on the grace of God in your moment of need. Prayer is the most normal and useful thing; it is not simply a reflex action of your devotion to God. We are very slow to learn to draw on God's grace through prayer.

". . . in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors . . ." (2 Corinthians 6:5)- in all these things, display in your life a drawing on the grace of God, which will show evidence to yourself and to others that you are a miracle of His. Draw on His grace now, not later. The primary word in the spiritual vocabulary is now. Let circumstances take you where they will, but keep drawing on the grace of God in whatever condition you may find yourself. One of the greatest proofs that you are drawing on the grace of God is that you can be totally humiliated before others without displaying even the slightest trace of anything but His grace.

". . . having nothing . . . ." Never hold anything in reserve. Pour yourself out, giving the best that you have, and always be poor. Never be diplomatic and careful with the treasure God gives you. ". . . and yet possessing all things"- this is poverty triumphant (2 Corinthians 6:10).

Robby Dawkins is Coming!

Hey Guys,

It is true, we made the calendar for Robby Dawkins and he is coming from August 12-14, 2011.

So, here is the deal. I need HELP!

I need the following for anyone that is interested:

1 – Someone who can be the contact person for the church. (They will take calls and fill people in on details).

2 – Someone who can update the Google calendar and help me with blast emails and such for communications.

3 – Another person to help me find the location to have this. (Daeho, can we see if Montgomery County has a facility that has stadium style seating for this? An auditorium somewhere?) And we need to check with a few more churches. I am contacting a few now.

4 – Someone to help with welcome and greeting the day of.

5 – Someone to help me organize outreach areas for ministry time on Saturday.

6 – Someone who can help me by overseeing the ministry team. (I know we have a team, but we will have possibly other churches to add to it and train, so I have completed the training and need to get it out to you on CDROM and then as well, we need to get name badges done for both this and church).

7 – Someone to oversee follow-up

8 – Someone over worship

And then if there is anything I missed, I need some of you to tell me.

So, please email Lori and/or I and let us know which role you are up for and EVERYONE NEEDS TO PLAN TO ATTEND!!!!!!

It will be Friday night and Saturday all day.

One last thing about this event. It is going to cost around $3000 and I have said that I will cover the ENTIRE cost as my gift to the church and area, however, if you feel led to help sponsor this event, then please let me know. We are opening it up soon to all the area churches and once we do, it is going to go through the roof. So, please jump in. I am already getting calls and emails.

I just had no idea what we were about to get into…

Sunday Service Time Change… What Do You Think???

The Leadership took a poll a few weeks ago and unanimously decided that it is a good idea to take our Sunday morning service start time to 10:30 AM.

That would mean that instead of services being from 11 AM to 12:30 PM which is often tough for parents and a time issue for anything we have going on Sunday nights and afternoon, we would move to a service that goes from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. And the plan is that all ministry and worship is over right on the 12 PM buzzer if not earlier.

We will be changing the format just a little more on Sunday morning messages as well. In an effort to take more of our faith-life to the streets, we will be doing our teachings in three parts. There will be

1 – the Sermon on Sunday

2 – Notes and take home thoughts on a sheet you will receive with a weekly post in the “Tapestry App” on your mobile device.

3 – And a special NEW weekly podcast with a fourth and possibly fifth point to the topic.

This is in an effort to offer messages, teaching and a worship experience that are DEEP and well-rounded and yet do our best to meet everyone’s time needs and schedules. We VALUE your time and the fact that you share your lives with each other.

So, we wanted to first see what you think. If you have any opinion, criticisms or thoughts, please email Lori at lorihedrick@tapestrychurch.org and just let her know what you are thinking. We love to hear your heart.

And just so you can be anticipating it, we are planning on this change by the end of August. So, start getting ready. We will look forward to being able to not only start earlier, but get on to fellowship and relationship building events afterwards!
