Is This What You Are Looking For?

Use PictoBrowser to add a Flickr Slideshow to your site!

Occasionally, I hear about people who would like to embed Flickr slideshows into their website. In my previous research, all I’ve come across are Flickr’s official badge and some various converters for Flickr feeds. But today, I came across a nice little app called PictoBrowser. This app is easy to use and can be done in just a few minutes right here, right now.

Below I’ve used a set from the Tapestry Church to demonstrate how it works. Take it for a test spin — if you like it, just click on the Info button on the bottom right corner to get your own. If not, you might like to try this one: Flash Slideshow.

Enjoy!

Add Google Translation to your site!

Here is what I did. I made a simple form script and every time I use it, I simply change the website address on each line. For example, the website on this script is my favorite church in the world’s site: www.tapestrychurch.net. So, all you have to do to use this script is simply copy the code into your sidebar or page and change the referring address from that address to whatever your page’s address is. It’s very simply and Google doesn’t mind. This is a free service they offer and you are welcome to use it. I really like Google’s version much better than Babel-Fish. We have found that the folks in our community who speak the languages in general like Google’s translations better.

Also, Google has many other languages you can add to this tool, by simply using this link to translate your page and add the link to the script below. Try it here: http://www.google.com/language_tools

One more thing I like about Google’s translator is that they encourage the larger community to help build their project. So, use the code and enjoy!

For an example of the code, see the right sidebar: “Translate!” Heading

For the code, copy the below and paste into your html editor or into WordPress’ Theme Editor:

<————————Begin Code———-Copy Below this line————————–>

<form name=”jump”>

<select name=”menu” onChange=”location=document.jump.menu.options[document.jump.menu.selectedIndex].value;” value=”GO”>

12-11-2007 Search Engines, Meta Tags and a Generator

I have found that more and more, search engines are using meta data to cull sites or raise their rankings. I am going back through my sites and attempting to do cleanup work on all my meta data. Now, WordPress is pretty good about automatically updating meta tags and such, however there are some plugins that you can use which actually even clean that process up.

Two of them are:

Add Meta Tags (http://www.g-loaded.eu/2006/01/05/add-meta-tags-wordpress-plugin/)

All in One SEO Pack (http://wp.uberdose.com/2007/03/24/all-in-one-seo-pack/)

However, for you guys who are out there doing the die-hard html site and want to make sure your site is getting the proper attention, here is a generator that might help. I actually got it from SEO Watch and they allow anyone to add it to their site for free. I have it here as a resource for our guys!

I am going to do these in a list so that you can use them easily.

Actually, I don’t know if I stated this before, but I really use this site myself, so all I ever try to do is make this site have everything I need for my personal and my associates (Holy Worldwide’s) use. I figure that if we are going to have this for our use that it is better to just share it with everybody.

Hope this helps!

How to Make Money Doing What You Love!

megaphone

So, how do you do it? Well, that’s the real question. Here are a few tips I would like to share as I continue to make money doing what I LOVE!

A few years ago, I had no idea that what I started doing with my little church blog; www.tapestrychurch.net would ever be worth anything more than a glorified online pamphlet. Well, it is worth more. A whole lot more.

I began to teach myself Java, HTML, PHP, mySQL and much more. What I found was you don’t even have to know all this stuff to begin to turn your time blogging into a return in money! It’s residual income like owning a rental home.

All you need is:

A Blog and a LOVE! I began to sign up for various accounts and affilliates, then I kept blogging my little heart away. I started a few more blogs and more than 50 blogs later, I have a community of blogs that are doing the work for me!

So, what do you do?

Here are some suggestions to help you start.

1. Get a blog. Here are some links you can choose:

MySpace
Live Journal
Xanga
Blogger.com
Multiply.com
Tagworld.com
Yahoo 360
WordPress

(CLICK HERE) for my page with links to many various blogs and social networking sites.

2. Get Google Adsense

Google Adsense is my single favorite way to make money on the web. It is so easy. You simply add their code and they do the rest based on what your visitor is doing. They give relevant ads based on the sites each visitor has visited. Then, you get paid by click and referral. So, when they click the ad, you get paid. However, there is a catch. DON’T cheat and click your own site’s ads. You eventually will lose your ability to use Adsense. So, be fair and have fun!

Here’s what Adsense looks like in case you have never seen it.

Also, you can get links for people to download programs like Firefox and Google’s Image program or software suite. all of these pay you everytime someone downloads their software! Check them out below!

3. Get Commission Junction

Commission Junction is my favorite old-time link/ad company. They really do pay off. I have gotten a return from their site for the longest time and they are the simplest one to work with besides Google.

(CLICK HERE) to go to Commission Junction

4. Get text-link-ads

I like these guys. They are the ones that do the text-linked targeted ads. They are very nice to work with and you are going to see more and more of their stuff on this site!

Text Link Ads

5. Get information that people really want and give it away on your site.

There are sites out there that make their money on giving away information. Some of them even give away information you can use freely on your blog to keep it fresh!

See Some here:

Bankrate.com
Jan’s Free Articles
Scriptme.com

6. Here are a few more ideas for your site:

a. Host a site for a specific thing you love and help others do it. Such as making scrapbooks. Share your thoughts, your stories, your secrets and then add links and tips that people will want to come back for over and over.

b. Use Technorati, Blog Syndicators, News feeds, Social Bookmarking Sites and more to share your site with others.

A few of these are:
Delicious
Magnolia
Newsvine
And find more here (CLICK HERE)

c. Make some of your blogs autopost to other sites such as:
Blogger.com
Live Journal
MySpace.com
Xanga.com

43Things.com even allows you to set their service up to autoblog their posts to the blog of your choice. (CLICK HERE and add me as one of the people you know at 43Places.com, a part of 43Tings.com)

d. Use short snippets of your posts and your stories on other sites and in comments with links back to your own main blog to generate traffic and raise your standing with Google and other search engines that read how many links you have.

e. Add links to your signature for your emails and your posts. (See Mine Below. I keep the HTML for it in a notepad and simply copy paste it wherever I go).

f. Send out an email newsletter with a copied portion of your latest blog articles and allow others to click through for the full feed.

Try using Constant Contact

Constant Contact Try it Free

g. Give stuff away. Anything you develop or can share, do so and place copywritten information in the footer or in the code with links back to your site. This will actually help your visibility. Create themes for blog sites and add “Design by …..” and add your name or your site name with a link. This will get you great return traffic and boost your Google rating. Also, it’s nice to give stuff away isn’t it?

h. Link to other sites. Make a directory of links. Encourage people to link back to your site and you can then boost their listing should they link to you.

i. BLOG… BLOG… BLOG… Just keep blogging! Get Flickr account and blog about your pictures. Use your pictures in your blog. Podcast music you write and give it away. Use Thinkfree and blog all the files you have published and allow others to share them and use them. Blog on articles you like in papers and on other blogs. Give feedback on topics in forums. Get VISIBLE! Go viral! Think Grassroots.

j. Get listed in Search Engines and in Directories. You can start by doing it here, (CLICK HERE) and you can continue by then using our Search Engine Directory (CLICK HERE) and SEO Tools (CLICK HERE).

k. Make tons of friends at great blog social sites! You are welcome to add me to yours and thus, build your own network. Here are my sites that I currently have social blogs:

MySpace
Live Journal
Xanga
Blogger.com (1)
Blogger.com (2)
Multiply.com (1)
Multiply.com (2)
Tagworld.com (1)
Tagworld.com (2)
Tagworld.com (3)
Yahoo 360
Friendster
Blogger.com (1)
Blogger.com (2)

Often, these aren’t the favorite ways to do it, however, given time, hard work and patience, the rest pays off. Give it 6 months and the next thing you know, is you are getting noticed out there. And when you get noticed, you get paid!!!!

So, go blog and get paid today!

Blessings!

Kickin It!pd
