Better known as error: “Windows Update Error 0×80072EE2″
Well, this is the question that plagued me for a day and here is some info on how I dealt with it. Now, this is NOT the only way, it is ONE way!
1 – make sure you have windows installer 3.1, if not download from Microsoft web.
2 – Run services.msc and stop the auto update service,
3 – make sure you can view hidden files and folders,
4 – delete all previously downloaded updates (should be in c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution folder\download) and delete everything in the download folder.
5 – Then detect and delete everything in the event cache folder. Download the latest update agent (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa387285.aspx)
6 – Start update service again and try. This should be your fix!
